Egypt’s Mall of Arabia in 6th of October City has matured, enhanced by the addition of Phase 2, its luxurious new extension. Drawing from Middle Eastern aesthetic, we imbued it with traditional elements such as mashrabia, arched gateways, domed ceilings and sacred geometry, marrying it to sleek, innovative design; the result is a timeless and refined space, host to the most high-end brands and dining spots. With its 12m high ceilings, the space breaths opulence, and neutral colors ensure that soft light is carried throughout it. It communicates a sense of grandeur and reverence to the visitor.
Phase 2 is organized into different nodes, which by employing shifts in lighting, flooring and other elements, express different moods, thus giving the feeling that you are not moving through a uniform space, but traversing a cultivated city. Gate 13, the largest entrance to Phase 2, is illuminated with an elegant arc of pendant-like ring lighting. The Atrium, a vital point of transition into the park, is endowed with towering glass facades, coaxing natural light in to mix with the abstract tree-like light posts, gently merging the outdoors with the indoors. The food court, with its ample passages, geometric patterns of metal and wood, and wide shop facades and alleys, communicates an experience that is extravagantly metropolitan. Phase 2 is a polished union of the ancient and the contemporary, the natural world and the city center.
