PRIVATE RESIDENCE

A contemporary interpretation of local vernacular domed architecture defines the envelope of this furnishing project, set seemingly floating along Egypt’s East Coast by the Red Sea, with the surrounding mountain range visible on the horizon.

Designed as a coastal family home away from home, the space embraces a relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere suited to restful holiday living. Furnished almost entirely with locally sourced pieces and primarily with Eklego’s bespoke designs, the interior palette remains intentionally simple, allowing layered textures to take center stage—from palm leaf, wicker, sisal, and linen to honed marble, matte lacquer, and natural leather.

A commissioned installation of Egyptian bird silhouettes—crafted in award-winning biodegradable material—animates the double-height living space, celebrating Egypt’s role along key migratory routes. Throughout the home, additional local motifs and sculptural references such as lotus flowers, hippos, crocodiles, donkeys, hoopoe birds, and palms introduce a sense of place, storytelling, and playfulness, grounding the design in its cultural and natural context.
